A tension headache is the most common type of headache. It can cause mild, moderate or intense pain in your head, neck and behind your eyes. Some people say that tension headaches feels like a tight band around their forehead.
Tension headaches occur when your upper back, neck and scalp muscles become tense, or contract. These muscle contractions can be a response to stress, depression, anxiety and poor posture. They can occur at any age but are most common in adults and older teens.
