Ergonomics

An ergonomic assessment analyses a person’s workstation to ensure it is set up and designed to minimise injury and maximise productivity. The assessment is conducted by a trained occupational health assessor and is used to access a number of key factors that can impact your ability to work comfortably.

The Health and Safety executive describes ergonomics as “a science that is concerned with the ‘fit’ between people and their work”. It puts people first and takes into account their capabilities and limitations. Ergonomics aims to make sure that tasks, equipment, information and the environment fit each worker. In short everyone that uses a computer, laptop or tablet to work from for more than 2-3 hours per day may benefit significantly.

An ergonomic assessment is beneficial not only to  individuals but also companies of all sizes. Providing your employees with an ergonomic assessment will teach them best practice, recognise and avoid hazards related to injury and pain allowing them to be healthier and happier at work. This in turn leads to increased productivity, reduced absences and lowered costs for you or your business.
